About us

Naba Asha was born from the initiative of Good News Center Inc a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, which had the honor of embracing the operation of two children’s homes founded in 1915 in Balangir, India.

Naba Asha, meaning “New Hope” in Odia language, originated as two children’s homes in Balangir, India in 1915. Despite serving the children and their communities for over 100 years, the two homes were on the verge of closure in 2021. Not wanting the children to go without food or care, new leadership took responsibility for the homes and a NEW HOPE blossomed for the more than 130 children living there. The goal of Naba Asha is this: To fight back against poverty and create a positive change in children and their families for the next 100 years.

We serve all children regardless of religion, race, ethnicity, or gender as a demonstration of God’s unconditional love for all people. Naba Asha Children’s Home works in the Balangir district of western Odisha, which is known as one of the poorest districts in India. More than 70% of the population depend on agriculture for their livelihood and close to 62% of families in Balangir live below the poverty line.

We at Naba Asha are committed to achieving our mission through a holistic approach to child development. We carefully blend physical, social, economic, and spiritual care together to give our children the best chance at a fulfilling life free of hunger and poverty.

What is Child Sponsorship?

Love goes the distance

Child sponsorship is long-term support that allows your sponsored child to focus on their studies. School dropout is a huge issue at the end of primary school and especially for girls. However, a girl at school help to reduce early marriage and child labour. An educated woman will fight for her children to get an education. Sponsorship also makes it possible to concretely improve their life and that of their family and give them the chance to continue their schooling despite their underprivileged background. Giving $35 a month, you offer your sponsored child the possibility to be fed, dressed and schooled.

Scholarship Program

$20 per month

This option provides funding to students who are not currently sponsored, ensuring their education is not interrupted. Supporters are NOT allocated a specific child with no associated admin costs, this is a great option for bulk scholarships.

Sponsorship Program

$50 per month

Sponsor a specific child providing a vulnerable child with quality education inclusive a safe home, healthy meals, medical care, Primary and Secondary Education. Sponsors receive the child’s profile, a school report and milestones updates from their child
